Homeschool
Statistics indicate homeschooling is a trend that is here to stay, and in fact, the number of homeschooling families is increasing every year. As a service to the homeschool community in Osceola and surrounding areas, we’ve added this tab to share news and services pertaining to homeschooling.
We have a homeschool center in the children’s area of the library that offers many resources, such as
- Books that detail different methods of homeschooling
- Used curriculum materials donated from families who no longer use them
- Forms for filing with the local school district
The Osceola Public Library offers various services that may be beneficial to homeschool families:
- Laminating
- Photocopying
- Transparent Language, a language learning curriculum that teaches over 40 different languages at no cost to you
- Interlibrary Loan, for ordering books from other Iowa libraries that we may not have on our own shelf
- STEM bags available for checkout
- Ancestry.com, available in the library only
The latest information on homeschooling in Iowa can be found at the Homeschool Iowa website. They have the laws and regulations, forms used for reporting to the school district, helpful tips on getting started and much more.
We will share information about Homeschool 101 events that can answer some of your questions when considering the option of educating at home.
